The Phoenix has landed!

Rivendell opens a new chapter in our constant efforts to improve our product and service, as we received delivery of our new CNC router equipment last week. The CNC (“Computer Numeric Control”) router automates production, connecting to our computer generated cabinet cut lists and allowing for swift and accurate automated cutouts and component processing. This gives our team more time to concentrate on the finer artistic touches to our work while leaving the basic cutouts to automation.

This week Jeremy and Nandi, who anchor our computer aided design (CAD) work, are training on use of the CNC at the manufacturer’s west coast center in Los Angeles, and next week the manufacturer’s technician will complete the set up and training for our team here at our shop. The following week we will dig into our new and refined mode of production!

So, in the corner of our shop where we experienced a fire 2 months ago, we have turned, as the saying goes, “lemons into lemonaide” by cleaning that space out, acquiring and installing the machinery that brings us into the 21st century. Thus, rising from the ashes, we have our Phoenix!

    • Well, how do you define scary? I’ve never found monster or ghost stories to be scary, because they aren’t based on anything real. People are real and scary to me. In fact, the scariest movie I’ve ever seen is *Deliverance* and I don’t think it’s considered a “scary movie.” But backwoods, ignorant, redneck guys with no teeth who like sex with animals and give birth to albino, mentally-challenged banjo players? Yup, scary!

    • | i say keep the scoring system…i was just reading “How Body Piercing Saved My Life” and thought it was funny when he pointed out that a particular magazine had a sliding scale from A- to B+ and thought of some of our reviews (including some of my early reviews) and think its ridiculous to think that every album that i review is in the top 80% of all albums. i mean, when you compare this album to emery’s album there is no way that it should be with five numbers of it 🙂
