At Rivendell, we make dreams come true. Through custom woodworking, from concept to cabinet, we’re able to take our clients’ ideas and turn them into actual items.
Lior Taylor, of LIORDESIGN, had his own clients. He was creating a modern, transparent space for the Mindray Innovation Center in Silicon Valley. His vision included a floating display cabinet for high-tech ultrasound devices. He shared some of his concepts with our Project Manager, Nandi. Together, they decided on the most practical design for both build and budget.
We often create curved pieces in the shop. For this job, the ribs and other parts were cut on our CNC, then stratified with wiggle wood. The illuminated counter top was more challenging. Nandi needed to engineer a grid of LED lights, with two transformers on a dimmer, allowing each side of the work space to be dialed in to a different desired brightness.
The space itself presented another challenge. Since the Center walls were made of glass, all sides of the cabinet needed to be attractive. The electrical cords were run down through the top to where they connected with a well-placed outlet. A final laminate layer and acrylic leg were added and assembled on site.
Taylor was excited to see his design come to life and let us know that “the clients were very pleased with the final piece.”
As for his experience? “It was an absolute pleasure working with Rivendell Woodworks,” Tayor said, “The team there was very professional and did a great job at helping interpret my rough design concepts and turning them into reality.”
